Innocent perception

A way of seeing that has not yet been covered over by opinion, memory or expectation.

A sound is heard before it is named. Light meets the eye before it becomes 'a beautiful morning' or 'another grey day'. There is a brief, open moment in every experience—clear, uncomplicated and entirely ordinary.

Innocent perception is a return to that moment. Not a special state, and not something to achieve. It is what is already happening beneath the commentary.

The teachings gathered here—six sense bases, Jerry, the mental eye—all point in this same direction: see what is here, and let the rest be seen as addition.

Come home to the present

You do not have to believe every thought. You can return, again and again, to what is actually here.
